The Helicobacter Pylori Breath Test is a non-invasive procedure that enables the physician to test for the presence of helicobacter pylori bacteria in the stomach. The test is performed at KMC Gastroenterology by trained nursing personnel.

This procedure is intended for patients who have previously tested positively for helicobacter pylori bacteria and are still experiencing recurring symptoms after antibiotic therapy.

The patient ingests a small capsule. After 7-10 minutes, the patient inflates a mylar balloon and the breath sample is analyzed by machine. The test takes approximately 10-15 minutes total and results are often available on the day of exam.
